On Saturday, my daughter, two granddaughters, and I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond to take advantage of the 20-percent off coupon that I had. On the way, here is what my younger granddaughter asked me (more or less): "Grandma, since you don't work anymore, would you come have lunch with me at school sometime?" How could I refuse?!?!
So today I surprised her by taking a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and meeting her outside her classroom door. When she saw me, she immediately came over to me, grabbed my hand, and stood very close to me. I leaned down and hugged her real hard. She held on to my hand all the way to the lunch room. I went with her when she got her lunch (chicken rings, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots, and ice water). I sat with her at a kind of low table. I also enjoyed talking to the other first graders around us. Then we went for ice cream. We both got chocolate drumsticks. My other granddaughter saw me, and came over and we hugged. (Don't worry. I'll have lunch with her one day soon.) When I left, we all said good bye to each other. There was an older boy nearby. He said, "Good bye, Grandma" to me. So I said good bye to him, too!
It is days like today that make me so happy that we moved close to family. I'll remember today for a very long time.

for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you,
whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child
will by no means enter it." Mark 10: 14-15
