Amy Made My Birthday EXTRA Special

posted Friday, 13 May 2005

Last week for the Karnival of Kidz I told a cute story about my daughter (Prochein Amy).  This week I want to say something wonderful about her!  Below is a letter that she wrote to me on my birthday in 1989.  She was in high school.  When you read it you will get an inkling of why I think she is so beautiful inside and out, why I am crazy about her.

Dear Mom, you are the best mom anyone could ask for.  I am glad you are my mom.  You care for me and love me very much.  You have an open mind and are cool about a lot of things.  I know this because some of my friends complain about their parents and I can't say I understand how they feel.  I feel so lucky.  Sometimes I can't tell how much I appreciate you and I wish I could.  You are a cool mom and I love you very, very, very, very, very much!  Happy birthday!  Love, Amy xo

Note:  This week's Karnival of Kidz is hosted by Boudicca.  Thanks!

I remember writing that letter. And most people might think that "cool" means you let me do anything I wanted. That was not the case. It was that you knew what boundries to set and which ones to open. And I still feel the same way today.

That's very cool. I have to admit that I apparently skipped over the date it was written, so the language threw me off -- until I re-read it and saw it was from 1989. I have to admit that I didn't know many friends, including myself, who felt that way about our moms at that time.
