Sometime during grade school I had the mumps. Both sides of my neck swelled. I think I was in bed for about 2 weeks. D, who shared the bedroom with me, never got the mumps. At one time, she got chicken pox, but I never did. Both of my children had chicken pox when they were kids, and I didn’t get them then either. I guess I am immune. (Watch, I’ll get shingles tomorrow!)
In junior high, the calves of my legs hurt sometimes. They usually hurt around bedtime. My mom would sit on the edge of my bed and rub my legs. That felt so good!
But I was pretty healthy when I was a kid. I guess I still am now that I'm a big kid! I thank God for that.
Update: I was reading one of my diaries. I had the measles when I was 15.
That is really strange to be around all those people and not get the
chicken pox. I'm glad I got mine when I was about nine, as I hear they're
a bear when you get older.
Oopes! Having mumps during school days is always freaky. yuck! you made me
sick.
